A Network AI & Automation Engineer in a multinational corporation plays a pivotal role in transforming traditional network operations into intelligent, automated, and resilient systems. This position requires a blend of expertise in infrastructure automation, scripting, API integrations, and AI‑driven workflows. The engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation frameworks that enhance efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and ensure high availability of enterprise networks.
The primary responsibility is to develop and manage automation solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform. The engineer will design playbooks, modules, and templates that automate routine network tasks including configuration management, provisioning, and compliance checks. By leveraging IaC, they ensure consistency across environments and enable rapid deployment of network services. They will also govern CI/CD pipelines to streamline automation delivery, ensuring that changes are tested, validated, and deployed seamlessly.
Another critical responsibility is API integration and orchestration. The engineer will design and implement API‑driven workflows that connect network devices, monitoring systems, and enterprise applications. This includes building front‑end and back‑end tooling to enable self‑service capabilities, automate ticket resolution, and integrate with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow. By creating robust API integrations, they enable real‑time data exchange and intelligent decision‑making across the network ecosystem.
The role demands strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Java, and PowerShell. The engineer will write automation scripts to handle repetitive tasks, build monitoring dashboards, and create custom tooling for network operations. They will also develop reusable libraries and frameworks that accelerate automation adoption across teams. Their coding expertise ensures that automation solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
In addition, the engineer will be responsible for network observability and monitoring automation. They will integrate automation with monitoring tools to proactively detect anomalies, trigger automated remediation, and generate real‑time alerts. This includes building dashboards that provide visibility into network performance, availability, and security. By embedding AI‑enabled automation, they ensure that incidents are resolved faster and service reliability is continuously improved.
The role also involves collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Engineers will work closely with network architects, security teams, and DevOps engineers to design end‑to‑end automation solutions. They will participate in governance discussions, define automation standards, and ensure compliance with organisational policies. They will also contribute to knowledge sharing, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation and automation within the team.
A key responsibility is resiliency and disaster recovery automation. The engineer will design workflows that automate backup, failover, and recovery processes, ensuring that network services remain available during outages. They will test and validate resiliency strategies, document recovery procedures, and integrate automation into business continuity plans.
Finally, the engineer will be accountable for continuous improvement and innovation. They will stay updated with emerging AI frameworks, automation platforms, and scripting technologies. They will experiment with new tools, evaluate their applicability, and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency. Their role is not only to maintain current automation systems but also to drive innovation that positions the organisation at the forefront of AI‑enabled network operations.
